FAQ

Below you can find some of the most frequently asked questions.

No. A translator changes the information from the original language into the source language by writing, and an interpreter does it orally.

You need a translator when you need some information to be written into another language.

You need a proofreader when you wish to check if a text, either original or translated, is properly written and does not have any typo, punctuation, spelling or style mistakes.

If there are not any references to a specific place throughout the text, a general translation – leave behind the specific or technical language needed-  is commonly required.

Should you need that the translation shows the place to which it refers -for example, you need it to ‘sound’ as Mexican or Andalusian Spanish, etc- you will need a localization, apart from the translation.

If you need that the info is translated at the same time as the person is speaking, you will need a simultaneous or consecutive interpreting.

If you are the only person that needs to have the info translated at a meeting or event and you do not wish that fluency is interrupted, you will need a chuchotage or whispered interpreting.

If you need to communicate with other people at a meeting or event in a different language but you do not need it to be simultaneously, you will need a liaison interpreting.

If you wish to get information about a document in a general way to understand it on the whole but do not need a word-by-word translation, you will need a sight translation.
